The AccessiTREE Badge
A Commitment to Inclusion
At AccessiTREE, we believe digital accessibility is not a destination, but a continuous journey of leadership and responsibility. The AccessiTREE Badge is awarded to organizations that have moved beyond “checkbox” compliance to make a meaningful, sustained investment in digital equity.
What the Badge Represents
This badge serves as a public signal of an organization’s investment in a more inclusive digital world. It is designed to be a transparent and defensible reflection of real work.
-
Completion of Remediation: The organization has completed a comprehensive digital accessibility remediation initiative.
-
Alignment with Standards: All remediation efforts are based on the WCAG 2.1 AA applied standard.
-
Ongoing Accountability: It signifies an active, ongoing accessibility program rather than a one-time project.
-
Transparency: Every badge links directly to the organization’s Accessibility Statement and a feedback mechanism for users.
Important Clarification
To maintain legal safety and accuracy, this badge is not a “guarantee” of permanent compliance, nor is it a legal certification. Because digital content changes constantly, the badge represents a time-bound status backed by ongoing verification.
Eligibility Criteria
To ensure the badge remains a credible mark of distinction, we maintain strict control over its distribution. Eligibility is limited to clients who meet the following requirements:
-
Full Remediation: The client must have completed a full remediation process for their digital assets.
-
Verification: Participation in rigorous verification and validation testing is required.
-
Sustained Effort: The organization must maintain its accessibility standards through ongoing engagement and services with AccessiTREE.
-
Annual Renewal: The badge is issued for a 12-month period and must be renewed through updated verification to ensure continued accuracy.
Strategic Benefits
Displaying the AccessiTREE Badge provides several key advantages for healthcare organizations and digital leaders:
-
Public Credibility: It communicates that your organization has made a meaningful investment in accessibility, distinguishing you from those doing the bare minimum.
-
Cultural Leadership: It shifts the conversation away from fear-based compliance and toward a culture of inclusion and leadership.
-
Internal Accountability: Displaying the badge creates a standard that encourages internal teams to maintain accessibility over the long term.
-
User Trust: By providing a clear feedback mechanism and a transparent explanation of the badge, you build direct trust with your users.
